I got an email from Carey, Honors' Alumni Relations and Communications Specialist, in the middle of October. Her initial communications intern was unable to continue with the position, and because I had worked with the Honors office before, Carey thought I could step-in for an impromptu internship. With an already busy schedule, I hesitantly accepted the position. Over the course of ~5 months, I helped the office with a variety of projects, including email correspondence, event planning, fundraising, article writing, and various administrative tasks.
You can see all of the products I created here, including my interim and final self-evaluations. Throughout the course of the internship, I learned a lot of skills relevant to compelling writing, effective communication with relevant stakeholders, and basic design. On top of that, I developed a great mentor relationship with Carey, and I got to work with the Honors community that I enjoy so much.
